 Helena Kameka, a singer/songwriter/worship leader from Toronto, Ontario and is currently working as a soloist and also with the Justin Time Band. She has performed on numerous radio and television shows including “Good Morning America“, the “Canadian Country Music Awards“, and several Canadian national television specials. Helena also performed for UN soldiers with touring shows in ’91, ’94 and ’95 in places like Bosnia, Egypt, Cyprus, Israel and Germany.

This two-time CCMA award winner and Juno nominee started off as a rock and pop singer before trying out the country music scene for a number of years. She has released five, top 30 singles in Canada in the 1990s from a successful debut CD with country group CODA THE WEST. She has contributed her voice to various radio and television commercials, and other recording projects. She has played for and/or toured with artists such as Shania Twain, Roch Voisine, George Fox, Lisa Brokop, The Wilkinsons, Jason McCoy, Steve Fox, and many more.

Helena is blessed to be involved in the worship department at The Gathering Place of Aurora. She is part of an amazing team of Christ-conscious worship leaders, singers, musicians, sound and projection technicians and  continues to minister as a soloist and/or worship leader at other churches, concerts and special events throughout the year. She also still freelances in the secular circles and continues to do jingle work and is into her her 13th year of ministering to men and women in prison.

Helena is also a core member and worship leader for the Inner Healing ministry, wounds2worship, founded by Ellen Campbell. She has been incorporating her giftings in music and comedy at wounds2worship conferences and workshops since 2008. For more info, visit: www.wounds2worship.com.

Helena has also co-written songs that can be heard in the 1999 film, ‘Nostradamus’ and on CDs by Liz Tansey, Coda the West and more.  Currently, she continues to write songs in both secular and Christian categories and is looking forward to releasing her next CD.

Finally, Ms. Kameka is President of the Canadian Centre for Abuse Awareness (Abuse Hurts), a national registered charity established in 1993 that helps victims and survivors of abuse. Helena has been employed there since 2008 (filling various positions including Director of Communications and Vice President). Abuse Hurts is located in Aurora, Ontario.
